I want to create some tutorials for you folks that are interested in learning how to create clothing in SL, so I would like to know from you what you would like to see. Also let me know if you want basic, intermediate or advanced.

That would be great! I've been obsessively looking at tutorials and have learned a few things. I'm pretty decent in photoshop and can take step by step direction without a problem. The thing that I'm not finding is how to create fabric textures that resemble rl fabric, also I'm not finding out to create things that you put on clothing such as visible seams, pockets, cuffs. Things like this in a step by step form would be super helpful as drawing in photoshop is a bit difficult for me. I know people use the burn and dodge tool to create wrinkles, but I'm struggling with making it look realistic. Perhaps these are things that should be self explanatory and perhaps I'm just not understanding, but these are things I've been looking for in tutorial form.

Well basics would be of great help to newbies. I have been looking for so long for good ones. I was relativly new to photoshop. I needed to learn that and besides to find out how to make descent clothes. Adding to that my lack of the English it made it almost impossible. But I have mannaged. But it took my so long and so much pain. so yes i think it would be great to learn to others things we already know. And besides that I think we will learn from each other then too................................ so I would like to have basics and advantaged ones. And if I can be of any help???? Just ring my IM.

Ok - Pockets, cuffs and seams, along with fabric folds and wrinkles. I do believe I can help. I will definitely post a tutorial for you guys soon - but it seems like there should be two for this one. Most of the work I do is pretty advanced but I will try to explain everything I can.
Hmmm - seems like I am going to need camtasia soon. Any other requests like hard to find patterns or brushes? I make my own and I feel like peeps could use the items but there are so many out there and I would like to make something truly useful. _____________________

Those would be good as well! I make very basic stuff without a problem and I think there are already some great tutorials that teach very basic things, but nothing so far of what I mentioned earlier. Advanced things are hard to find as well so I think it would great to have some of those as well.

I would love a tutorial on a bikini, or bra and panties, for some reason, the shapes just.. confound me. I wear them. and I can't draw them to save my pretty little soul.
Oh and something on the lines of latex/leather or adding 'shine' to cloth textures. |

A step by step tutorial using Paint Shop Pro with the templates on creating all parts of the templates would be REALLLLLY nice to have. There are a lot of good tutorials for Photoshop & GIMP, but for someone JUST starting out using Paint Shop Pro, there isnt much help on here...or the web!

Please help

I'm new to Second Life and having a really hard time figuring out how to shape and form my avatar. I'm really interested in creating my own clothes. I own a book called Second Life by Brian White that isn't helping me too much. Any information to get me started would be helpful. My email is panzela@aol.com. Much appreciated.

Ecks, a fold is a fold, pretty much. They don't come in male and female. Read through the stickies at the top of this forum, especially Robin Woods' one, and you see lots of advice about making folds. If what you're concerned about is the *placement* of folds, the best way to learn is to put on a T-shirt and stand in front of a mirror. Your eyes are a better teacher than someone else's description.

Sometimes my brain just freezes up on me like SL does, so a good tutorial on wrinkles and shading, would really be helpful. |

I have been looking for the a stich, pocket and collar tutorial for a while. Robin Wood's tutorial on wrinkles was easy once I got my head around it. I am actually looking for an easier way to make a button down shirt that matches up textures between the top and bottom templates (i.e. a Hawaiian shirt). Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I found tutorials for eveything from removing white between the lines, the t-shirt tut, alpha, 3d art, everything except the wrinkles. Could you possibly send me in the right direction (I am directionally challenged). Sure would appreciate it. Thanks, Stitcher |

Hi Stitcher! The confusion comes from the fact that I'm called "Robin Sojourner" in here.
So what you need to do is Search these Forums for things by Robin Sojourner to find my tutorials about wrinkles. ![]() I think that the most thorough ones were on this thread. /109/25/77501/1.html I probably should collect it all and put it together onto a tutorial on my site, so people can find it without plowing through a bunch of threads and posts, huh? ![]() I'll try to get that done sometime soon. Hope this helps! Robin Wood (AKA Robin Sojourner) _____________________

any tutorials for paintshop pro please.
![]() most tutorials i see here are for photoshop. they're great tutorials but some of us can't afford to spend $500+ USD for photoshop. now that i think about it any tutorials for GIMP would be good for the people that don't want to spend the $70+ USD on paintshop pro. just my 2 linden. ![]() _____________________

how about a seamless shading layer that can be added to skirt, top, & bottom SL templates to give depth, body form, and wrinkles to the fabric design

I think its funny we go out of our way (most of us) in RL to not have wrinkles, folds and er panty lines.. But on SL.. everyone wants that lol. |
