I have seen you folks speak of using a tablet, which do you all prefer to use? I need something not complicated but with great results. Thanks you for your opinions!

The conventional wisdom seems to be to buy a Wacom brand tablet.

What size is a personal matter.

The latest models have what looks to me like a better designed control system than the older ones.

You can find the Wacom's used on eBay, so you might need to decide if you'd prefer a less advanced new model or a more advanced used model for the same price.

The Bamboo would not be a mistake, unless you are going to love it so much you wish had an even better one, in which case it might would have been better to start out with the better one in the first place.

In the next few weeks imma get a Bamboo. I want a drawing tablet very badly, but I won't be using it for much. Bamboo seems good for me. Of course, I might eventually crave more. In the mean time, gonna bone up on my eye-hand and do lots and lots of doodling with pencil and paper.

Back in the day when I had a TRS-80, I had a tablet for that. It had two levels of sensitivity: yes and no. A whopping 16 colors to draw with. No software, so I had to write my own using BASIC. Ah, the good ol' days. (My TRS-80 was pre-C64 just to give you an idea of how long ago that was.)

As usual, the first thing to do when a common question like this comes up is to do a quick search of the forum's archives. Go to the to of the forum (without this thread open) and look for the drop-down menu that says "Search This Forum" and type in tablet. You get quite a nice stack of suggestions, since someone asks this very good question about once every four months.

The most recent response is at . Keep looking, though. There has been a lot of very rich discussion here. BTW, I use a Wacom Bamboo and I love it. :)

You generally can't go wrong with anything from Wacom. I use the small 5x7 Graphire 2 that was the precussor to the Bamboo Fun, and it's wonderful.
