Gap at seams when zooming out?

Hallo! I did a search for this but couldn't find anything. I have some pants cuts that look fine when you're at normal camera distance, but when you zoom out a bit more, gaps appear at the side seams. Is this a setting in my graphics preferences, a bug, or is it something I can fix by doing alphas differently? The alphas are just wide of the required mark and there's no halo or anything.

Also, the hems of my (system) pants have an upside down V cut out of one side of each sometimes, and not others. I saw a JIRA about this problem but it was marked resolved, though I still occassionally see the problem. Is there something about the way I've created the alphas that is causing this?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I often get silence when I break down and ask something I can't find the answer to but I thought for sure someone would at least hazard a guess. Foiled! Victorian swoon, etc.

i get that same problem with my pants and seams, what i do is make the alpha larger around the seams only, and then i put in a background colour that matches the outfit im creating this seems to work for me. I have heard this happens if you have a nvidia card. Ahh you gotta love creating in sl :)

I'll hazard a guess - Do you use a Solidify filter on your textures (bleed like colors well past the template seam bounding area)? If you are not extending texture information well past the bounding area for any part of the avatar texture seams you will get visible seams as you zoom out from the avatar. The viewer will average more texture area in rendering the avatar the further away the camera is. A tell-tale sign of this problem is incrementally growing seams as the camera zooms away.

If you're not familiar with the Solidify filter, check out Flaming Pear's Solidify filters A,B, and C. B is the best filter to use for SL avatar textures. These filters plug into Photoshop.

I can't verify the problem being Nvidia specific because I don't run any other types of video cards other than Nvidia. In any case, you should always design with the lowest common denominator in mind to eliminate compatibility issues.
