Starter Skin?

Hi there. I'm a budding artist, with (I feel) a fair amount of skill in Photoshop. I've looked arouns SL for nearly a month now, searching out skins for my avatar, etc.. I've spent several thousand lindens on some, been given others for free, bought demos and multipacks, etc etc.

Problem is, I'd really like to customize my skin.. Now I know that there's no way to "Download" my skin images, then work on them in photoshop, and reupload them. I know this.. because I've looked all over the place.

So I set out to try and make my own skin fron scratch. A daunting prospect at best, but I tried. I got the templates off the website, loaded the same templates onto my avatar, and walked around like a dressmaker's freak baby for a while. I downloaded the poser models, and with some effort, I even managed to load them into Deep Paint and give that a try.

2 days and 100 lindens later I had kind of workable breasts.. And I was just way too frustrated.

One of my friends suggested I post here, and ask if anyone has any skins they'd be willing to share in the real world, so beginners like me can build some skills in make-up, tattoos, and whatnot, before trying to paint on all the muscle tones to boot.

Yes, the files are missing, the URL given points nowhere, and Jinny hasn't posted in that thread in more than 6 months. I emailled her, but I don't really expect much in the way of a response. So the request STILL remains unanswered.

Would anyone be willing to share their real-world skin images with an artist with too much time on her hands?

If anyone has a freebie male skin (without underpants) I would be interested in getting a copyable copy.

I uploaded Jinny Fonzarelli's skins in dark and light skinned versions. I give them out to newbies when mentoring.

I would love to have a male skin to give out to newbies.

Any chance you have a no-way-I-would-ever-wear-this-skin-cause-it-#@$!% male skin in psd format you would like to donate. Of course, I realize, most likely any such would have found it's way to the trash bin probably long, long ago, but asking anyway, just in case

hehe, nope, sorry. I didn't do my first male skin for quite a while so I didn't have any false starts on them. Some day maybe I'll release a male and female starter kit. The reason why people are so reluctant to do it is because getting all the anatomy and shading in the right places is the biggest challenge so people are reluctant to give that away. It's the secret sauce.

Have you looked at the files in the "character" folder under your SL install? You can find the files that the client uses for the LL default skins. They're pretty helpful as a jumping off point.
