Hi all, I love to sketch fashion designs on photoshop but since joining SL back last year I decided I would like to try and make my designs in SL. I am not the best at textures and am now getting fed up of not being able to make my designs in SL. I own Photoshop CS4 Extended and that is a learning curve on its own. What do you consider to be the best way of making textures? Also could you tell me if there are any designers that sort of do apprentices or something like that.
Thanks Temperance.

I think start at the beginning. There are lots of tutorials pinned here, read through them. I'm not sure when you say 'textures' you mean the drawn clothing or the 'fabric', but there are tutorials that should cover both.

To be specific ...... Read through each of the sticky threads at the top of this forum from beginning to end. There is valuable information in each of them, but if you want to prioritize, I would suggest reading the one on Texture Size etc. first, followed immediately by the one on Transparency and Alpha Channels and then the one on Photoshop Tips & Tricks. The Tutorials thread is a great resource, but it will take you a long time to work through everything that is there. Take it a bit at a time and just keep working at it. The SL Clothes Previewer and the Free Templates are invaluable tools -- you will need them as you begin actually doing designing -- so be sure to download them. THEN, get in the habit of mining the archives of this forum for answers to your specific questions, many of which have already been asked by other people. That's what the "Search This Forum" feature is for. As you have questions that don't seem to be answered in the archives, or if you want to join in the discussion of someone else's question, come back here and post. BTW, if you want a nice set of useful tutorials at the beginner level, try Natalia Zelmanov's blog at .

Thanks for your help and advice I have already started running through the stickies, I use PS CS4 E so will be focusing on that area for awhile. Thanks
