I've notived a few walls with one texture on one side and a different texture on the other, notably a vine covered wall exterior and a plain interior. How is this done?

in the edit window, enable the 'select texture' button, click the side you want to place a texture on and use the texture tab to set it. only that face will be textured

Doesn't seem to work. Every time I try to edit one side of the wall the other side changes also.

Does the wall happen to be a Sculpted Prim? Sculpties really only have 1 'side'.

You can also try dragging a texture straight from your inventory the the side of the object you want to texture.

When you are using the Select Texture method, make sure that only the side you want is selected. Selected sides have a white crosshair highlight. If you select a prim, then hit Select Texture, all the sides are selected by default. click somewhere off of the object to deselect, then click the side you want to change.

You can drag a textutre from inventory on ONE face.
You can select (multiple but not all) faces of (multiple) prims, by changing the edit mode to "texture", thats in the top left part.

Prims have their faces numbered.
Each face number has their own texture, scale, rotation and offset.
In "prim" edit mode you set all faces at the same time.
In "texture" edit mode each texture can be changed without changing all textures.

Different prim types have different, irratic, face numbering. (the hole is always the same face..., changing prim type messes up all)

did you enable 'select texture' THEN click the side, THEN change it in the texture tab?.... if you skipped clicking the side, or did that first, that's likely the problem....

when you are in select texture mode, the currently selected side will be hilighted with a whitish glow and a circular crosshair overlay (also in white)
