I need someone who can create custom textures. To be specific, I need someone who can create 19th century book covers. I need these to be originals, no copies. I am not rich in either SL or RL, and I cannot afford to pay a fortune, however I am willing to discuss reasonable pricing with anyone who can create these. At the moment, I only need a few covers, nothing extravagent, but I need them to be believable. If things work out, I may be needing more in the future. If you are skilled enough to do these, please contact me via IM, and I will provide you with additional details. I cannot guarantee that I will be contracting any work from anyone, but I want to see what my options are at this point.
Attached is an example of what I mean by '19th century book cover', this is an original, which of course I will not use due to that fact.
Of course, feel free to add to the post, and tell me how crazy I am =)

That's a great idea for a wish to get done in SL. I wonder who can do it for you too... I'm looking forward to seeing the results of this.

Somethin' I'm curious about, Khashai... by "originals", do you mean textures done in the style of 19th-century bookcovers that look like they could be real, but don't actually exist offline?

I would be interested in doing these. I am a graphic designer in rl, and some of my work can be viewed at http://www.metaversemessenger.com/graphics/. P2

Phoenix, contact me sometime in SL, and I will show you a little more of what I am doing and needing done. Same goes for anyone else who is interested in helping.
(and then comes the part where I hear the price and keel over =)

I could do some of these for you, Khashai, but I'm a bit swamped with projects at the moment. I applaud you for contracting work from the community and for respecting copyright, rather than using existing images.
As anyone who knows me is aware, fanart and stylistic recreations are pretty much my specialties in SL, and this certainly fits the bill. If you still need someone in a couple weeks, let me know. I'd love to help before then but I really can't. I'm facing some deadlines.

I just want to mention that if you are scanning the covers from real books that were published in the 19th century (as opposed to using scans that someone else has made,) it won't violate copyright. Those things are long out of copyright, and in the Public Domain now. There are still good reasons to make unique books, but copyright violation isn't one of them.

Yes, I am aware that they are public domain, however, I still want something original, for the covers. The main reason for this is, after over a century after these books were first published, it is getting increasingly difficult (even with the Internet) to find original copies of these books.

Note that Huck Finn is used as an example here, I am not doing a version of Huckelberry Finn, mostly due to the level of racial intolerance in the text. SL is based around tolerance, and I do not feel that it would be appropriate to introduce a book here (historical, classic or otherwise) that would at all reverse that idealism. I may eventually change my tune on this, but at the moment, it won't be happening. Of course, the beauty of public domain is, anyone can do this, if they feel like taking on the project =)

Oh, and I do have written permission from the current holders of the GNU Liscense on these texts to resell them.
