I am contemplating of spending a Mini Fortune on superhigh Quality Textures and will want to sell these to recover my purchase and upload costs.
My question is, what is the best way to package these for resale and what permissions would be best for textures to make sure that these do not get resold by others.
Will Modify copy No transfer offer this protection, and make sure that the buyers can be happy?
(I have bought texture packs which are no mod, which means I cannot rename them.. and that pisses me off because it is impossible to find specific ones.. Tile 1, Tile 2 Tile 999 etc does not work for me.. lol)

Reselling somebody elses textures is not a good idea, Textures are sold so that content creators can use them on builds and then resell those builds. Unless of course the textures your contemplating selling come with a license agreement that state you can resell them.

I know it wasn't the question However like I said unless the texture(s) you are purchasing state that you can resell them then selling them violates the creators copyright and you open yourself up to possible legal action if the original creator is notified and chooses to take legal action. Just because you are paying $5 per texture doesn't mean you have the right to do whatever you want with it. as for permissions: most people won't purchase textures without full permissions because they use them to create content. if they use non transferable textures then they can not sell their builds. I'm constantly on the hunt for textures in world and have spent a fortune on them, but I must confess that I would not purchase anything that doesn't have full perms. Textures, in most cases, are used on new builds/items, so personally I wouldn't want to go to the effort (and brain pain!) of creating something new that I could never fully call 'my own'. I don't sell anything, but should I ever get the hang of building (!!!) I may want to in the future so I'd avoid all texture packs that would deny me the right to do so..
Have you considered offering your textures with full perms (set a high price if you need to) with the proviso that they cannot be sold on as textures themselves, only as part of other's creations?

Rights are a whole other subject. (I will never buy a texture from an outside (SL) Vendor that does not grant me rights to resell them on SL.)
ok, from reading your code... Full permissions, means that someone who buys my textures, can resell them as textures, which could pose the problem of me having to babysit a bunch of people to make sure they are not knocking off my product.
I understand that the need for content creators is primarily their ability to sell their creations, using whatever texture they need. I have not yet bought one product on SL that included full perm textures along with the item, so I am still missing part of the info.
How does Mod No Copy Transfer sound to a content creator, Ie a Home or Furniture Builder?

As a content creator I wouldn't buy unless the textures are full permission, let me explain. If you build say a house, its full permission meaning you can mod/copy/resell that house. If you a apply a non modifable, non copiable or non transferable texture to that building the permissions of the texture transfer over to the building. If I place a non copiable texture the house becomes no copy meaning I can sell it once and thats it.

If you are going to sell textures for builders to use and resell in builds they have to have full perms. Does not matter how you interpret or change the permissions its Full Perms or nothing.
I do not know if the ability to apply textures without full perms has changed in the new viewers but previously you could not select the texture from the texture picker, it had to be located in your main inventory and dragged to the prim.
So given your choices of Full Perms only, as already mentioned in a previous post you would have to sell them with some kind of clause that they are not to be resold as individual textures.
But to be honest, have you researched this, you say Super High Quality Textures, how does one determine from Quality to High Quality?
Also, given the amount of Texture Supplies in SL how do you know they don't already exist.
As mentioned , there is the issue of Copyright as you are using somebody elses creations.
IMO, the only way to go about selling textures is to create them yourself using external software like Photoshop, Gimp, Paintshop Pro, Maya etc etc

Someone who buys your product does not have to own the texture in ordder for the item to display that texture. I have bought hundreds of items, that have textures, which I do not own. Super High Quality in my view is something with one side being of 1024 resolution, and textures that actually are really seamless, and actually unique enough where you do not see them used on every other build already in World. I have been shopping for textures a lot lately and I am finding many identical (or slightly recolored versions) ones sold by different vendors, whom I highly Doubt, created these themselfes in PS or whatever. Again I am not going to get into a copyright debate, I am fully aware of all copyright issues because in my RL line of work, people steal each others stuff all the time. Most of the time the only recourse you have is to either whine like a little girl that "they stole my stuff", or to take the high road and just simply steal something of theirs back.

I am refferring to purchasing textures and textures only that do not have full permissions. Not objects or buildings that are textured. So to reiterate if I have a texture that is not full perms to texture an object it has to be dragged from the main inventory and not from the texture inventory that appears when you select a face or prim to be textured. Also it does not show when you have an object textured with the non full perms using the texture eyedropper picker. From what you described about your high quality textures it would not be Arroway textures by any chance? If so they are already in SL. Once you pirchase each package for 49.00 euros there are free to use as is or modify, there are no copyright issues from what I understand.

No-transfer permissions on textures no longer prevented the object being sold/transfered/whatever to a third party the last time I checked.
You could only apply a nm/nt texture to a prim by dragging it onto a prim face (with a shout from the object, um, objecting) but you could then pass that object to someone else.
This is how some people were able to use a friend of mine's no-transfer textures, designed for item owners to modify their personal items, to make and sell easy fabrications and duplications of her items for resale. They couldn't transfer the textures as textures, but they could transfer the objects (sell them in this case).

Thanks, I am really trying to get a handle on all this before wasting a lot of money. and no, not Arroway which is now 59 Euros per pack, but in that same league. It is from a place that supplies the architectural design markets in RL. They are more expensive than Arroway, From my research, Some very cool architectural detail textures can reach the 25 Dollar mark per one texture ..haha it's like anything, If you are smart, you get what you pay for lol what does the eyedropper picker tool do?... I better go practice SL some more...

Joking aside, using the eyedropper tool, when you have a prim textured and you want the same texture on a adjacent prim you can select the textured prim with the eyedropper tool which will locate that texture in inventory without having to type its name or manually searching for it. If the texture is not full perms then it will not show up in the texture window. Ace, I knew there was some change with textures on one of the new releases, also if I am right in saying it does not show the UUID of the No Full Perm texture either, so preventing people from using a script with the UUID as well.

I know that your setup works nice for me as long as I do not want to re-insert your original texture after I change it to one of my own..
