Hi all :) I'm a PS CS2 user.
Could someone please point me towards the direction of a method or a plugin for a metallic glitter effect, not brushed metal, I know how to make that one ;p? More like a semi glossy silver or gold with glitter to be used as clothing fabric. Ya know, metallic of some kind ;p

Thanks in advance :)

For a fine mechanical glitter, try the following:

1) Pick a base colour to fill a blank image with. (You can change this later through hue/saturation settings)

2) Go to Filter>Noise>Add Noise. Check Gaussian and Monochromatic, tweak as necessary, then hit OK.

3) Here's your basic glitter pattern. You might want to tweak your lightness and contrast settings, as well as add some shadows and highlights. Generally with something metallic, you'll want to be more harsh with your shadows and highlights... Just experiment a bit - playing around with adjustment layers may also help.

The other thing you can do is play with shininess in world as well. It doesn't always have the effects you'd expect, but it's usually interesting and on metallic things works well most of the time.

Test this:

Make a prim, any type
Plain white texture
Set the shinyness to high
spin it around to see how it shines
