Hello :) i have just recently started playing SL and would like to try and start making clothing, tats, skins...etc. I've been reading that a lot of people are using photoshop but i tried using it once before and its kinda complicated. Are there any other programs out there that are good? Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks.

Nephilaine made a wonderful tutorial for creating a shirt in Photoshop. It can be found here:

Once you get the process down, it's easy enough to apply to all the templates. If you have any questions along the way, almost everyone in the design community is happy to help :)

Hi and Welcome to SL!

I learned on Paint Shop Pro an am currently trying to learn Photoshop. They are similar, but Paint Shop is easier and less expensive. There is also a free program call GIMP. I have never used it myself, but there are people out there that do.

I just introduced a friend of mine to Gimp, and now he swears by it! He's never used Photoshop though ;)

I swear by Photoshop, and if you intend to get competative at a high level in SL, you will need to dive into learning that application and the many supporting applications and plugins. This especially applies to skins. Gimp is a good palce to start out :)

GIMP is very similar to photoshop, in that the tools are similar and the toolboxes can be.
It's slightly different though, enough to throw people whore used to one when they use the other, which is why most gimpers hate photoshop and most photoshoppers hate gimp.

It is nicely scriptable though, which is always a good thing. It's free, and there is soooooooo much free documentation out there...
