OK, So I've been working in PS CS3 for the last few months and have been making my own clothing. Everything's fine and dandy...until now where I want to place a sheer part into my item. I've read through here and found out that you can't have more than one alpha channel. Sooo...how do I preserve the translucency of one of my layers so that even if I use an all white alpha channel, part of the item still stays sheer. Any help would be greatly greatly greatly appreciated Thanks much, Tek PS. Please make it in simple speak please. Thank you Oh..and PPS...it's not cheating to check your textures in Beta is it? O.o

Hi Tek! Easy peasy.... The alpha channel reads transparency from Fully Opaque (White) to Fully Transparent (Black). If you would like something to appear sheer, simply use one of the gray tones. The lighter gray=less transparent, the darker gray=more transparent. So if you want sheer sleeves on a shirt (for example), simply make the sleeves gray on the alpha. From: someone PS. Please make it in simple speak please. Thank you I don't speak techie, so I hope that was simple enough From: someone Oh..and PPS...it's not cheating to check your textures in Beta is it? O.o Nope..not cheating at all..be kinda silly not to if you're so inclined (although I find the SLCP stickied at the top of this forum to be a brilliant tool for previewing...). Best, ~Ari

Hello Ari, Thank you for the reply. Question...so I have to go back into the Alpha Channel and outline just the sleeves and then fill it with a gray...after I've done the initial Alpha for the whole top? Thanks again Tek

Thanks again Tek Hello again If you already have the alpha competed with just black and white, then filling in the sleeve area with the gray would appear to be the quickest solution. ~Ari
