colored edges in transparencies

I have made two transparent textures so far, and they both have the same problem -- the outer edges of the transparent prims show lines of color. Both textures are of green plants, so the edges of the transparencies are green. I've read the texturing tips "Transparency and Alpha Channels," and I think I've followed the directions accurately, but I still have the colored edges. I'm using Paint Shop Pro. Can anyone help me with this?

the edges of the prim or the texture? If its thin, try texturing the thin sides with a freebie such as totallyclear or something similar, which is a pure clear alpha texture

I think he's talking about glowing edges on alpha maps--the texture. I'm not sure the technique to stop this...I've found the edges haven't compromised anything I've done...yet.

Texture the whole prim with totaly clear first then texture each side with your texture by dragging it from your inventory on to the side you want textured. If it is not the edges of your prim being textured with the plant texture then one tip I have found is to set the repeats to just less than 1 (ie 0.9) which will get ride of any "frame" around your texture

If you have a texture that is transparent on one edhe, but visible on the opposite edge, SL tries to smooth any tiling by showing a one-pixel line from the opposite edge, even if the repeat factor is precisely 1.000. To combat this, set the repeats on that textured face to 0.980, and the tiny line on the outer edge of the prim should vanish.
