Hey everyone, I've recently been making tattoo's with Gimp. I've been fine with making black & white tattoos, I've been able to do pretty decent ones and my friends said I have also. I was thinking of moving onto making colored tattoo's although I cant seem to find a GIMP based tutorial on making Coloured Tattoo's, I can only find black & white tattoo tutorials for GIMP. I'd appriciate any help, Even any tips on making Advanced Tattoo's will be very useful. Thanks in advance,
Yours faithfully,
Zhoom

Tell us more what isn't working for you? Do you know how to change the color of the drawing tools?

Nothing isn't working, I'd just like to know How to make colored tattoo's with GIMP. I cant seem to find a tutorial for it, I've got some colored tattoo's but when I upload them for placing them as a tattoo on my avatar they go all dodgey. Dodgey as in red goes to purple, blue goes to pink. I was wondering If anyone can give me a step by step on how to make colored tattoo's with GIMP, thanks.

I don't know why you would need a tutorial specific to colored tattoos. Black is treated just like any other color in computers. I gather you draw your tattoos using GIMP.......simply pick the color you want instead of black.
Your problem may be that the colors you see on your monitor are not the true color you are wanting. You might try adjusting your colors on your monitor and/or graphics card. And it's also possible that SL is not displaying the true colors. In your preferrences under graphics (advanced, I think) there is an option to let SL pick the "best color"......try unchecking that if it's checked. An easy test for that would be to check with some of yoru friends in world and ask them if they are seeing the correct color. If they are then it's only your viewer showing the borked colors. If they are seeing what you are seeing then it's somewhere in your setup on your computer and/or monitor.
Hope I helped a little.

Just a wild guess here, but are you using a semi transparent image? One trick with black tattoos is to use grey on the alpha channel to get them to blend into the skin colour and look a little more natural. However if you do this with a coloured tattoo then the skin pigment will affect the colour of the tattoo. You might need to go with fully opaque on the tattoo parts to get the exact colours you want.

Zhoom Open one of your black and white tats, create a new transparent layer and set it to multiply. Fill with your favorite color or gradient. Presto, colored tat
