Hi everybody. First of all, I must notice I'm Italian (so this is why my english sucks... forgive me ^^)

Here is the question:
I made a set of new skins that are... "modifiable".
I mean that lips, nails and eyeshadows areas are black in alpha channel, so you can play with appearance in-game to change colors and styles.

BUT....
I forgot something. That part of appearance is under "skin"... and if i set it "no modify", people will not be able to customize anything.

Now... if I sell modifiable skins, everybody will steal my textures?
I never understood this thing.
If I have a full permissions skin, but still don't have the single texture.. is it possible anyway for me to "save texture as..." ?
If yes, I've lost my time..

If not... maybe I can sell 'em with modify permissions.

Let me know... I was going to put 'em for sale tomorrow... now I'm stuck

:) Tyvm for your future answers, and sorry again about my terrible english

Yaia.

Don't worry. Setting the skin to modifiable does not allow people to access the textures. It's just like selling any other textured item. They get the item with the textures on it, but not the texture files themselves.

You might want to include a notecard in the package with instructions on how to modify the skins, and a warning that should the customer change the textures, they won't be able to change them back.

Ohh what a good new ^_^

Well... yes, you're right, I MUST include a warning notecard with that kind of skins, since with mod permissions they can change texture and spoil skin.

So.. this is why we all set skins "no modify"? I always thought I did it because otherwise costumer could steal my work... lol. Ok, ok, I'm stupid.

:)
Thank you very much, I feel better :)

Make an Alt. A second account basically. Test your skins with the Alt and see what you can and cannot do with the skin. If anything it will give you peace of mind.

I think most of the reluctance people have with making skins modifiable comes from the distant past when it was very easy to steal textures from modifiable skins and clothing through the appearance editor. The loophole that made it so easy was fixed a long time ago, but the reluctance remains.
