Has anyone heard of this? Do you know where to get it?

I saw a link for it on the SL website not too long ago and now I can't find it. I tried searching for it on google, in the forums, and on the SL Wiki. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks!

What does this Dressmaker do? Does it create prim skirts?

Yes it creates prim flex skirts that have YOU as the creator (if you do it right).

The creator is Jerry Martin, his company name is PrecisionWear. It's not cheap.

I bought it, but am too lazy to learn how to use it *smiles*.

I thought this was what you were referring to. I use this device and I love it. If you have any questions, post them and I will walk you through it. And Jerry's customer service is awesome.

Yey! Thank you so much. I'm horrible at building prims so my skirt creation didn't work out all that great. I'm gonna go get it and if I have any questions I'll bring them back up here. :)

You're very welcome. Jerry's dressmaker is very easy to use, one you have the pleat set up.

I'll check back to see if you have it up and running!

Best,

Wait, there's a freebie one available to start you off. I'll drop it on you when I get in-world in about 10 minutes. I've not heard nor seen Jerry's so can't comment on the differences, but the freebie works well for long gowns.

Yay! Glad to hear you have your first outfit! Do we get to see a picture? :)

I don't know what I'd do without that device...2 seconds and I'm done with the skirt. And if I've ever had a question, Jerry is very quick to answer....even when my DressMaker evaporated from my inventory.

I've only used the free version of Ged's LoopRez many months ago, and I'm not a script-friendly girl so the LoopRez and I didn't get along well for making skirts. I have used it for making pearl necklaces though without issues.

The difference? The DressMaker is a drop down menu driven device, the free LoopRez I used did not have the menu so that was a deciding factor for me.

Hopefully someone with more experience with the LoopRez can give you a more definitive answer.

I've heard great things about Ged's item, and I have no doubt it's an awesome device. It just came down to personal preference for me.

I have used Ged Larsen's Deluxe Loop Rez for about 6 months and it is wonderful. The chat commands are straightforward and fairly intuitive. With any scripted system, though, I think you have to remember that the main purpose of the script is to fit prims to a regular oval at the waist and to set the angle at which they hang. I've found that you still need to do a fair bit of tweaking, especially if you decide to put the waistline at a different height than the script does. I often end up tilting a skirt forward gently, for example, so it lies flatter across the stomach and doesn't hang up on the butt. I also fiddle with the width and taper of prims at the hips, where the curve of the waist is tightest and the scripted skirt can bunch up funny if you aren't careful. And then there's the matter of fitting waistbands .....

It's just like RL: a fancy time-saving device can't do everything; it lets you focus your attention on the important details that require personal attention.

I got the LoopRez inworld (granted this was late last year, or early this year) by checking Ged's profile. Check his picks and I'm sure it will point you in the right direction...if someone doesn't happen along and post where it is now available.

I don't see why you couldn't use the Dress Maker for the same thing...just put the Anchor Script in a pearl, drop it into the device (you'll just have to name it "pleat" as usual) and adjust the front to back/hip sizes to fit the neck. I'm not inworld or I'd try it out for you.

Totally adorable skirt! Congrats and have fun :)

Love the dressmaker, but I still do them without it.. this is one I made..

I make my own pleats, or use my pleatmaker.. (makes it all nice and neat and easy)

its also good for making the leg cuffs... I had to play a bit to get the right settings.. and delete a alot of them...
