I am working on that also. Right now I mean as a guy it is basically jeans and shirts. Now I personally like layered clothing so like long undershirt, t-shirt and a open shirt or jacket.

I am also working on a real hoodie. Basically when I do make hoodies I want the option to wear it up or down. I wouldn't mind working together with many people inorder to get more and better men's clothing in SL. It can only benefit everyone.

Since I've join SecondLife, I've worn no shirt, only because I can find no shirt that I really like. I'd like some plaid button up shirts, loose-fitting jackets, and maybe some hip-hop oriented wear. Other than that, some simple, generic clothing wouldn't be bad. :P

Also, new pairs of jeans are a must.

This is one of the big problems with menswear..

Hoodies will look flat unless you use a prim then it will be too stiff..same with hats..

Baggy and loose clothing translate poorly on an avie as things cling and getting plaid to line up is also a challenge..

Wish the avatar meshes worked more like RL with flowing clothes but hey ..can't be perfect.

But with everyone doing mens at least there will be more than there is now.

I am still working on hoodies but honestly, I am not focusing on mens clothing right now because I still want to fill my store with products that I can sell now. Just happens women's stuff is easier. I am working on a real working hoodie again. Someone showed me a hood and I just have to sort of modify that concept. But it would be both up or down.

But I mean, if you look hard enough you can find some decent stuff.

Nice! Getting tired of T-Shirts and bell-bottom Jeans.

I hate bell-bottom pants and pants up to my knees.

I also dislike the fact that shirts have to be so tight.

Let us know where to go! It would be nice to have the variety there is for women's clothes.

I personally would like to see more Formal Wear. I am a business owner and when I meet with Clients or Partners I want to look professional, I also want some variety, instead of wearing one suit all the time. The nicer the suit is, the more Ill pay for it. I Finally found a nice VERTU suit the other day and I didnt think twice on forking over some nice change for it. It also came with options which is nice, different Ties and bowties and Different Vests.

The other thing I would like to see is Some Men's Boots and Shoes made from prims. I havent been able to find any nice work boots or dress shoes. If they are out there then I just havent found them.

Short List of Boots/Shoes.

Combat Boots (laced High and low Styles)
Cowboy Boots
Work Boots (ie. Wolverines)
Skate Shoes (preferably "Vans" Style)
Tennis Shoes
Sandals
Dress Shoes

There is a great market for Men's Wear and if someone got serious about the Mens wear Industry, they could Capitalize the market. Thats the long and short of it, thanks for listening. :)

Nooot....really. I've been making unisex/menswear for over a year in SL. While there is an okay market, it's not like it's a big thing waiting to be tapped. Guys don't shop nearly as much, and if they do, they tend to live in a handful of outfits instead of having an entire wardrobe.

Prove me wrong though! I'd love to have an excuse to dedicate time to exclusively mens things. But as it stands, the stuff really won't sell unless I make stuff that could be worn by either gender.

As people have said, it's more a limitation of SL's clothing than designers not making stuff. The loose slider distorts the textures to the point of them looking really crappy. I'd love to make baggy skatewear. It just doesn't work for tops. It also doesn't help that the jacket map can't be made baggy. So if it is baggy, it looks tucked in. The way the clothing works is definitely geared towards women/men who wear tighter things.

Just because we are men doesnt mean we dont like to shop. Thats a really bad Sexist prejudice. Its more of a matter that when you do go to shop, everywhere you go its all womens stuff, therefore men give up. Most would just rather wear Jeans and t-shirt Instead of flying all over the world. Its not worth it to go around 100 places to find nothing. So thats why I said "If someone gets SERIOUS", key word there, then you would probably do good, Lack of Advertisement is an issue as well. Guys dont know where to go half the time. :)
Anyway its no big deal.

P.s. "If you build it they will come" :)

I didn't mean to be sexist ;) If it came off that way, I do apologize. I didn't mean to offend.
And I have built it. A few have come, but what I meant is it isn't a huge untapped market.
I am serious about providing clothing for men. I've been making clothes that can be worn for men and women ever since I started designing. I've also heard stories of people making men's stuff, then the women's stuff outsells ten to one. It's kind of a self-defeating thing. Going with what you said there, men don't shop because there's not much out there, and there's not much out there because men don't shop. (Saying they don't shop is of course a wide generalization for the sake of stating a point. I have awesome male customers who shop with me regularly)

Things have to change both from the shoppers and the designers. It's hard though. Women's clothing will sell almost for certain. Men's is a lot riskier. Both take a fair bit of work.

personally, i think theres a huge call for mens clothing. It may seem like men dont nearly shop as often as women because of the lack of selection for men. I should know, I think i own every item that was ever designed lol. I only wish i had the knoledge to design, but once again, if you build they will come :)
If your looking for some really nice hip-hop gear 25stylez puts out some serious stuff.

Buck,
you can find combat boots downtown if i remember correctly. if your intrested, i can send you a LM in world.
happy shopping guys :)

I want a frock coat. Genuine Victorian/Edwardian frock coat. Oh, and matching pants, shoes, shirt, cravat...

Nothing much, really. :D

One other shocker designers may want to brace themselves for is difference in acceptable price for mens vs. women's clothing. Men just aren't willing to devote as much of their income to clothing as women. The result is that I have to charge much less for a men's top than I would for a woman's top of equal quality and effort or it just wont sell.

Depends on what the item is, a nice enough suit designed well could sell good. All depends on the person's taste, here's a thing that I see a lot in real life as far as how men shop:

we know what we want, go in, buy it, get the heck out.

A general statement from what I have witnessed basically, but if its something worth shoppin for, we might take a second look.
