CS3 Ext - Can't even get it running!

I didn't want this to get 'buried' in more advanced tech-help threads.

I'm embarrassed to say this but I hope someone here can help so here goes:

I can't even get Photoshop CS3 Extended, running. It won't install properly. Am I missing something? (Snark away if it makes you feel better, but that won't help me solve this.)

I don't see a clear 'click to install' button. I drag what looks like the main folder to Applications but there is nothing in the folder that looks like an application. I do not get a screen in which to register the program.

If I try to open anything in PS3 Ext, I get an error message.

Even more puzzling is, I told the people at the Apple store I wanted CS4 and this is what I got. Did I get a bad disc, did I get ripped off...the box is opened, and I took a while to get to installing it so I'm not sure what I can do. But considering how much this cost I'm pretty ticked off.

Thanks in advance for any help. :/

Sounds like someone swapped a CS3 disc into a CS4 box. Not cool. Take it back to the store.

If Apple won't help you, Adobe might. Their customer service is much better than Apple's. They'll likely disable the CD key on the box you bought, and issue you a new key. I hope you've still got your receipt.

I'm with Chosen. Take it back.

If the store gives you trouble, and you paid with a credit card, the credit card company might help, too. Say "Charge back" to the store people. That will usually do the trick. :D

The differences between CS3 and CS4 are huge. Among many others, you can't paint directly on the model in CS3, and you can in CS4.

Once you have the CS4 disk, if you're having trouble with installation let us know, and we'll talk you through it.

Hope this helps!

Thanks all; I will look up my receipt and take it back in. What a bother!

I definitely wanted CS4, not CS3 - and I even paid for Extended.

Sounds like I should give Adobe first crack at doing something about it. Thanks again.
