Seamless texturing over multiple faces

Hi,

I have a seamless wooden texture that I'm using on the exterior of a house. I'm by no means a pro when it comes to building. My problem is that I can't get the texture to fit right over several prims, so it looks like there is one face instead of several faces.

Is there a simple way to apply a texture over several faces and align them with eachother so the texture looks as one?

I'm no pro either, but I have found it very helpful to first throw on a freebie grid texture that also has little numbers. It's a lot easier to line up the grid than some random texture. You click on select texture and that way you're only changing one surface at a time and not messing up the ones you've already aligned.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think planar mapping works good for flat surfaces and default for curved ones. And then the hollowed out surfaces are confusing because they are really one surface even if they appear to be four, so the sizes get really strange.

Anyway once the grid is all aligned you can replace it with your wood texture and it should be aligned too. All the textures I've done this with are the multiples of the regualr sizes - 256, 512, etc. I don't know if it works with other sizes.

That is a great tip, thanks a lot. Do you know by any chance where I can get a metric measuring texture?

I got mine aligned now. Took a while to tweak it to the right size.
