You make the attachments out of prims and apply your texture to the prim. Then you "attach" it to your avie (wherever works best) and adjust it.

yes, to add to rilya's comments:

you'll want to design the shape you are gunning for out of prims. You will need to create textures that go on each prim (unless you just want a solid color... then you only need to worry about in-world building). You can link all of your prims together, and "attach" it to a part of your body. How to attach? - right click on the item in inventory and you will see the option.

In terms of getting used to how textures map to different prims, one useful method is to use a grid texture. You can also change the scale of the texture (zoom in or tile many) and offset (move how the texture sits on the prim) and rotation. Cereal Milk created a handy little 256-grid texture i can give you if you IM me in world.

great... I appreciate the feedback. I think the thing I am missing is what is and how do you get a prim? I conceptually know but do not understand how to design or upload one.

sorry for being so new at this. My photoshop knowledge has me ahead in some areas and I realize I am way behind in other areas.

Hey Lucien, go to "find" and type in sandbox. Once at the sandbox, right click on the ground then click create. You will see a square box that appears -VOILA your first prim!!! That's all a prim is . Most of the things in game are made up of prims. Go visit the Ivory Tower Library - they have hands-on stations set up to teach you how to make prims. Good luck~
