I'm new to SL... but I've been getting pretty familiar with basic modelling and skinning ( scripting is completely over my head though ). However... there is one thing about it that vexing. Alignment in skinning. I can get passed aligning cuffs and collars and whatnot.. that's easy... but pin striping is incredibly frustrating for me.

I am trying to make this top.

I have the vest, cuffs, chains, and all the other accessories down... I just need to set them in place. However... the pinstripes are killing me. No matter how hard I try, I cannot get them to align.

NOT THAT THIS MATTERS... because all of the textures I've been uploading (512x512, 256x256, and 250x250 ) have been failing. They end up as 1x1. I lost $90 so far.

I appreciate any help in advance.

Vertical stripes can be very difficult to do because a straight vertical on the template won't end up as a straight vertical on the avatar, and what's straight on one avatar won't be on a different shape. your best bet for doing this sort of thing is to wear one of the alternate template sets as a skin, take screenshots, and then plot your lines using the grid points in the screenshots. Use a median shape to get the best look on the widest range of shapes.

Yeah they are quite annoying then egain the UV map for the SL models are a little aggrivating at times for people used to modeling/skinning. But what chip reccomend is a good tip real good. I'd work out the median as more of a medium built guy and use a male shape to figure it out. If you have any modeling program's import the mannequin and slap what your trying to make on it. That usually helps you get a good idea b4 you upload it into SL. If you need help doing that I can help ya out just lemme know in world to weird to type out here :)
