Any texture websites out there?

Can anyone direct me to some websites that sell legal textures that can be used in SL? I just wasted an hour at one of the big texture places in world and the lag made it impossible to find anything. I really wish they would move their texture business to the web to save us time. Thanks for your help.

There are thousands. Here are a few:

1. slexchange.com - Type "textures" into the search field. Then, under where it says Category Matches, click Textures. There are currently over 6000 of them.

2. shop.onrez.com - Click on Miscellaneous, and then click on Textures. You'll find well over 250 pages of them.

3. Go to the Products Wanted forum, and post whatever it is you're looking for. That's what that forum is there for.

4. Google for "textures". You'll find over 33 million hits. Read the licensing on each site to see what you are and aren't allowed to do with their textures.

Or, do what the rest of us do, and learn to make your own. That's what this forum is for. :)

Textures-R-Us is in the process or doing precisely that. Soon all the TRU textures will be available for sale via the Web, as well as in-world.

Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.

Kind regards
Natalie

I've been a subscriber to shutterstock for a few years. They charge a flat fee (real money) per month and you are allowed to download up to a certain amount a day.
These images are for you to use as long as you do not sell them as your own.
I have found some great HIGH quality images, textures and vector art there.
To me, since I use them outside SL as well, the monthly fee is so very worth it

I am sure ther are other stock photography places out there.. This is just who I use.

www.cgtextures.com

http://mayang.com/textures/

But I agree with the above comments. Its better to do your own. I use to use textures I found until one day someone IMed me and said "lol, I bought (product here) and wanted to let you know how I like your use of the old steel texture found at Yadnis as a cloth overlay. I never knew the metal scratches could look like cotton."

The simple fact that they recognized it directly bugged me, so I do all my own now. It just ads a nice personal touch.

Yes, I second that motion. I like TRU stuff but finding anything is a pain and the LAG is horrible regardless the time of day or night you may go there. I go there as a last resort now. So, this is very good news for me! An URL would be muchly appreciated.

FYI--mayang URL seems to be down due to hardware failure.

There are some good ones I use--however, most of the textures aren't set up for repeat, so you'll have to know how to do that if you want seamless tilable texures.

I used to use Mayang for a lot of my raw textures, but his server has crashed due to hardware issues...hopefully it comes back up. In the mean time I use CG Texures (link below).

I always like to encourage people to create their own 'hand-painted' textures. Start with a base texture (from your own digital photos or from a high quality sample), and paint your own details, decals, shadows, and hilights on them. It really makes a huge difference, trust me.

Cheers guys.
