I was looking for a metallic texture for clothing purposes. If any1 knows where i can get it that would be so helpful.I also wanted shiny leather texture.I think u call it vinyl. You'd most likely see it on some hooker boots or something.

Hello Gianni You can visit my shop, I specialize is unique original textures there are many metals some of which I occasionally use on shirts. Also I have what I call a "plastic leather' pack in building two, (there is a LM giver for building 2 near the main TP entry point.). However the latex effect due to its nature is very difficult to create generalized textures for. So your most realistic effects on latex come when the effect on the texture is deliberately designed for the item in question. You can try the plastic leather pack sometimes I get lucky with them depending on the item and the way the texture is applied. You can also try Textures r Us, they have a very large selection.

Hello, latex is a very difficult material to simulate in a static way as well as metals due to their high reflectivity. Latex color at a defined point in the real work depend of several factors like the angle toward the eye and toward the light sources as well as what is surrounding it. highly reflective materials are , in essence, in the real world "invisible" the vision we have of them is what is reflecting in them.
Like for example a chrome ball is basically seen by us as a distorted vision of it's surrounding.
However, as we deal with a static texture in secondlife, and not a material with real time properties we cannot depict it exactly like it should in the real world.
And for those that tried, cutting bits of real latex/vinyl as reference material, while, as a picture it looks fine, mapped on a 3D mesh it just feels like someone dropped color splotches on a surface as in the real world we see a picture from a single point of view, the minute your view angle change and the picture is completely different.
Hence you need to think your surface with mutiple light sources, the most simple way is one at front, one at back but it leaves the sides at a disadvantage, and, looks a bit odd from the sides.
The best i found so far is to imagine 4 light sources around the character and blend from one to the other.
