To those expert designers that use maniquins.... (from photoshop 7.) I am learning more and more about it!!

Do you happen to know where I can read about making them?? Something simple that I can understand? Or maybe you have time in world to teach me? I would really appreciate it.

I want to make my own maniquins and not depend on anyone. Also want to help others make them, once I learn.

Can someone be kind enough to tell me? Thanks So much!!

I am pretty sure you just take a picture of the AV wearing what you want to display. Then go to PS and cut it out, then put it on an alpha background. Then just make a thin rectangular prim and texture it with the pic you made.

You can pose your AV on a blank background to make the cutout easier to do.

Okay Take a picture in a white background...
(if your clothes has white in it.. change it to other color)

Then take pics :D... and save it to DISK.....
(put a good name so u can find it faster and easier)

okay
now..

1) open up photoshop...
2) open up "Lowerbody" template (download from site)
- the reason im doing with lowerbody is because its easier to put in box.. cause of the size...
3) Take off all the layers... "Background" "overlay" and "workinglayer"

(It should be a blank thing... with the checkers)

now.. leave that alone....

and do..

1) open up the picture that u took...
2) open it up in photoshop...
3) use the LASSO tool.. is that lil "whip" tool....
and if u did a white background.. select the white...
it should select all the WHITE in the picture
4) go to the "Bucket Fill" and make sure that the mode is
"CLEAR" and then clear the "White" section of the design.
5) u should see the maniquin in a blank screen....
6) hightlight the design.. and copy...

THEN OPEN UP the LOWERBODY... the one that has NO LAYERS....

and press "PASTE"...
it should be with out no white in it.. if there is still white.. plz remove it.....

then if its too big or too small....
1) Go to "Edit" then "Free transform"
then move it or scretch it anyway u want it....
2) save it as a TGA FILE....if u dont.. it will not be transparent.....

3) open up in game as an IMAGE
and voila u are done....

if u have any questions plz IM ME in the game! :)

Btw... i use Photoshop 7... lol

One other handy tip... make a photo booth to do your screenshots in. Make it a solid color (usually white, but any primary color will do. You want a color that isn't in the clothing). Set the photobooth prims to be a light so that when you do screenshots the background will be a solid color unaffected by the sun or shadows. This makes it very easy to select the background with the magic wand tool in photoshop. Usually a tolerance of 5-10 is all you need.
