Hi all *waves* I'm thinking of designing and making men's clothes. Right now I do not own any graphics programs. I need some recommendations on what to buy that is suitable for a "clothing designer newbie" and a newb to these programs. I can always buy a more advanced program once my skills reach that level. Thank you very much for your time ! On edit: Never mind. I'll just plunge in and get Photoshop and learn it.

Steve

Steve, Before you spend the money on Photoshop, you might want to check out GLIMP (sp? Brain just went dead on me)

It is free and has most of the function of PS. Afterware, if you continue, you could spring for the money.

I'm using GIMP and it's quite capable, but does not have one-for-one the same features as Photoshop, so following tutorials based on Photoshop will not work. Sometimes you can find the equivalent function but the parameters are scaled differently, and maybe you can adjust and maybe you can't, and sometimes it just doesn't have (or you can't find) the same function.

It's a good program, though. If you aren't going to rely on tutorials and books it is quite capable of creating SL clothing. And it's free.

Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator CS work well. I am now spending most of my time in Illustrator.
