Supported filetypes?

Hey I'm new and interested in doing something in this game on my own. I'm eating up all this stuff that other people made and I really wanna make something on my own, but the problem is I'm not really sure how. Is there a list of supported filetypes around anywhere? Like for 3D models and such? I was under the impression that only .3ds files were supported by SL, but now I've got myself wondering whether or not I just made that up.

Depending on the answer here I might have some follow up questions, but I appreciate anyone's help.

Please get back to me, cause I can't find anything...

Welcome to SL, Sean.

Supported file types are as follows:

Images: TGA, Jpeg

Sounds: PCM Wav at 44.1 KHz 16bit stereo under 10 seconds in length

Video: Any format playable by Quicktime (MOV, SWF, etc.)

Audio: Take your pick. Pretty much anything that can be streamed can be tuned into in SL.

3D Models: None. SL has its own internal set of modeling tools. There is no support for importing outside 3D models. Jeffrey Gomez has scripted his own model importer, which is very impressive, but it doesn't work the way you probably think it does. Everything in SL is constructed from primatives in order to keep the data stream at a usable, real time level. There is no vertex level control over gemoetry.
