Hiya,

I've been working on some very detailed pants, and because of the way that half the texture image is taken up by feet, I decided to try it at 1024x1024, however when uploaded into SL and applied to my avatar, the texture is at 512x512. I can tell because I have the texture in both sizes, but when applied to a piece of clothing they're equally pixelated. So clothing are capped and resized at 512x512? I'm really wondering because I see it mentioned nowhere.

Yes. All clothing and skin textures end up 512 x 512 inside SL, regardless of how you design and import them.

Working at high resolution will make better clothes. But reduce the art to 512 x 512 before importing it. Your graphics application is far better at resizing than SL is, and only has to do it once. Import clothes at 1024 x 1024, and the file is larger, gains you nothing, and has to be resized by SL each time the clothing changes.
