I'm new to all of this, including 3D. I downloaded DAZ, as well as the SL meshes. I'v figured out how to view my male obj avitar and I'v made a few tee shirts and they look good in SL. But I cant figure out how to put them on my DAZ avitar in order to view them in RL. Is there a turorial somewhere here that I'v missed with "search"? Any help would be appreciated.
thx,
Ethan

most of the models from DAZ are victoria the models for SL are actually old default 2 models from like poser 2.

not sure what you are trying to view on the DAZ models but the UV is different then SL models.

if you are trying to view SL models in poser, then you have to follow the simple directions SL provides and add them to the correct character and object files.

thx for the reply. I guess I dont yet know enuf to ask a queston rite. I'm using the DAZ-studio program to view the SL model of the male avitar which I downloaded from SL. I read in this forum that you could also view cloths which one made on the avitar using DAZ as a viewer. My question is: how do I get my cloths on the avitar? I know how to do this in SL, but I don't know how to do this using DAZ.
thx

Yep. As I've said many times before, the habit of using the company name instead of the product name just leads to confusion. :D

You're better off just using the product name, if it comes to that, since the company name is prone to change anyway. (Anyone remember Fractal Design Poser? Or Metacreations Poser? Or Curious Labs Poser? And what is it now.. e-frontier Poser? :D )

But enough of my soapbox. Here are your instructions;

To Preview Clothing in DAZ Studio

1. Go to the File menu, to Import, and Import the Avatar .obj file. (Yes, it will import the .cr2 file, but if all you are doing is looking at textures, all that does is add another step.)

2. Open the Surfaces window, if it's not already open. (Command/ctrl 1)

3. In the Surfaces window, click the long button, which says <No Selection>, and choose a Material from the drop down list; say, "Material_Upperbody."

4. In the Basic tab, click on the long button under Color, which says None. Choose "Browse for Image" from the menu, and browse for the image file. (It needs to be in .tif, .png, or .jpg format. .psd and .tga files won't work, sadly.)

5. It will show up on the avatar in the window. If you don't see it, make sure that the window display is set to "Texture Shaded." (Under the flippy to the right of the View menu, at the top of the window.)

6. Repeat for any additional textures.

Hope this helps!

*sheepishly raises hand to each of those names - except the last one!* (apologies for hijacking the thread too)

ROFL! Well, if you put "CuriousLabs" into the URL bar today, you'll find the last one. :D
