Is this a texture bug or operator error?

As the title says, I'm not sure if I should file a bug report or if this is a known issue and I just missed the memo with a work around.

My project roof section of 7 prims is linked together.

I'm using a cylinder sub-shape of a cone.

Each of my prims is a copy of the starter prim.

Each prim has the exact same texture, in the exact same repeats, etc...

When I try to add a color to the edge of the prim so to accent the architectural shape (a light grey to just darken it a bit), some of the edges take the color and some don't.
I've tried changing the texture completely, changing the color completely, adjusting repeats and I'm at a loss. Two prims right next to each other have the exact same texture, same color applied from the Color Picker, same RGB values, same Hue, Sat and Lum. But yet one is taking the color and one isn't. This is driving me insane, or maybe I should say MORE insane than normal :D

Is it just me?

You may be seeing a rendering error, especially if it is around dawn or sunset.

I was just designing a complex building, and identical parts side by side looked very different.

Open the debug menu, and force daylight. See if that evens out the texture shading...

I've been back 3 times over the past 24 hours at different times of "day", forced sunrise, everything I can think of. Still have two prims that are not taking the color.

Is it possible that you have identical, overlapping prims - and for some reason the one being changed is not the one being rendered? like two identical prims is the exact some place. J

ust a thought...

I'd definitely check for identical prims existing in exactly the same spot, as Vlad suggested.

(That's happened to me before, when I accidentally duplicated a prim, because I was tired and the Autopilot held down the Shift key to constrain movement. Which, of course isn't how building in SL works. I then hit Command Z to undo, and the duplicate snapped back to its original position, but, being tired, I forgot that it wasn't gone; just back where it had started from. And then I couldn't figure out why I was getting z-flutter on a single prim when I changed the texture. :D )

The other thing you might do is have someone else look at it, and see if they are seeing the color correctly. Sometimes SL has rendering weirdness that's not connected to the time of day. For a while, for instance, half of my prims in a build I was working on were randomly changing themselves to Full Bright and back to normal. But only for me.

Everyone else saw them as normal prims, all the time.

Logging in and out didn't fix it, and I'll still occasionally see one of those prims as Full Bright when it's not. I have no idea why.

But since it's just me, I don't worry too much about it. :D

I've done all the above, done my linking, counted prims, moved the project... There are no double prims and the color shading pops on and off no matter what time of day or location. Still does the same thing in a new location. I thought it might be because of some overlap of prim edges, but the same thing is happening on another item that is not linked to the roof of my house and has no overlapping edges.

I went ahead and filed a bug report after another person looked at it and confirmed what I was seeing.

I used to have a similar problem (back two years ago), try making a drag copy of the object. Then set the colors on the copy.
