My digital camera bit the dust today. I have the black LCD screen of death. While shopping reviews for a new digital camera, I stumbled onto this goodie

I know what I'm asking for for Christmas. That is, besides world peace.

*mops drool up off keyboard*

Think it might be time to retire my Intuous 1. It still works flawlessly, but that touch strip for zoom and pan is just way too cool!

I just saw this too today, looks awesome(increased DPI from what I heard), but yes it makes a BIG difference over a mouse, mouses have no pressure sensitivity usualy where as tablets do and that makes all the difference

Thanks for the heads up, Misnomer. I hope my typing is okay here, cuz I can't stop staring at the picture of this thing. I don't know if it's possible to fall in love with a plastic rectangle, but I'm starting to think it just might be.

Anyone who is upgrading and wants to sell off their old pad - let me know! I suck way too much to invest in a new one, but would love a second hand one for my few attempts at design. And it could help defray your upgrade costs!

Bhodi, you can pick up a new Wacom Graphire for rather inexpensive to start. That's what I have, and a puni 3x5 to boot. It isnt great, no pressure sensitivity, but compared to using a mouse its awesome!

I was going to get a 2 last year but never got around to it. NO WAY am I waiting another year. The 3 has my name on it.

I recently picked up Intuos2 for pretty cheap - after reading all the reviews I opted for it over the graphire one despite the big price difference.

And yes, Wuvme, I would highly recommend it - it has made such a huge difference for me. It takes a couple of days to get used to, but once you do, it's great. Since you hand draw a lot of your clothing, I would think it would be very helpful to you :)

That's odd. I've never seen a graphics tablet that was not pressure sensative. Is yours broken or do you have the pressure sensing turned off? Maybe the wrong drive? As far as I know the entire Graphire line has always had 512 pressure levels. (Well at least Graphire 2 and Graphire 3 do. I've never seen a Graphire 1. That would be going back quite a few years.)

Anyway, Bhodi, a Graphire 3 4x5 is easy to find for between $50 and $100 US. They're all over Ebay. Tiger Direct has them for $89, and CompUSA and BestBuy have them for $99.

It's a great starter tablet for way low price. 512 pressure levels, cordless pen with eraser and 2 programmable buttons. Seamless integration into Photshop. Great value.

The Graphire 1 line only has 256 pressure sensativity, as I recall (I dunno, I gave mine to a friend when I upgraded to an I-2 tablet, but thats what I seem to remember), but it *was* still pressure sensative.

Mmmm.

Drooooooooool.

Me wants. Arrrg. It seems like only last year I was upgrading to an I2... My wallet, my precious! My wallet!

Mmmm. Christmas Gift, mayhaps. Except I had been eyeing an iGlasses HMD...

Arrrg. Too much stuff. Nowhere near enough cash!

I've had it quite awhile. It doesnt even appear to be a "1". Hmmm... I'd research it but I'm ready to move on from it anyway. I'll probably be giving this one to my kid.

How upsetting... My tablet, which was pretty expensive when I got it a year or so ago, died on me quite a while ago and I'm no longer in any financial state to buy a new one... I spent a lot of time on e-Bay a month or so ago, looking for a good but affordable tablet to use because I'd gone so long using a regular mouse for all of my digital art and it is so much more difficult and time-consuming, not to mention very, very frustrating.

I finally found the best one (I thought) that I could afford on e-Bay, compared it to others, asked many questions and finally bought it. The guy started jerking me around a lot and wanting me to pay for his listing fee and then, later, wanting me to pay more money, even after he sent it to me, because he didn't think the price he sold it to me for was enough...

Anyway, he claimed everything was in it and that it worked perfectly and that support could be obtained if needed but, when I got it, it was missing the power supply and nothing in the documentation specifies what kind of adapter is needed, just that one is included... The disks that came with it appear to be blank and I contacted the company for help and they said they won't support the product anymore. The guy has stopped answering my e-mails and I've just spent the money on this for nothing. I'm outraged, to say the least, but there is nothing I can do.

If anyone has a good, affordable tablet they no longer use that they are willing to sell for not too much and I really mean not too much... please let me know. I really shouldn't spend any more at all, but digital art also happens to be my only source of income, at the moment, and I need something to make it more efficient as I simply cannot go on using a regular mouse any longer. Please let me know if anyone has anything they could sell me that contains all of the parts and is still working properly.

Sorry to hear that, Rain. If I take the plunge and get the Intuos 3, maybe I'll sell you my Intuos 2. ;)

Of course, at the moment, I'll be paying off the 20" LCD I just got (Dell had a special and I had to get it!)

Very tempting!! I wonder if it is backwards compatible with Intuos 2 tablet pens? I know the 2's were not backwards compatible with the 1's. I love my 2, especially the pen handle I've worn to a shine, but hmmm . . . all those nice features! Thanks for the look see :)

Ordered! And it's about time -- why didn't I do this earlier?

Rain, if you're still out on a tablet, let me know. I'll have a spare Intuos2 3x4 in a bit, it's worthy for small jobs.
