i am a newb and i was trying on some free stuff from my inventory "musician guy pants" etc
then i tried on "professional male goatee" and my skin went darker now i cannot get back to my old pale self. when i bring up the "change appearance" feature it now has the title "professional male"

i've looked at some guide books but none of them go into this matter in detail.

hope this is the right place to post this question

if you have any suggestions where i can go to find extremely detailed advice about changing appearance using inventory that would be helpful

otherwise what can i do to be muself again

thanks

basically you have changed your skin to that which is in the avatar folder, which is in the library section (and now possibly the inventory section, because you have worn it). so you need to find your original skin and click 'wear', wearing another skin replaces the one you have. so seeing your new, you shouldn't have a problem finding it as you probably don't have many skins in your inventory yet, just do a search for 'skin' and try on the the different ones that come up, until you find the one that you want.

in the future, it is a good idea to save a look you like into it's own folder, like a back up, in case this happens again, you can do this in appearance, and just save the full set 'as is'.

This is a link to a Torley Linden video on YouTube about saving your appearance, it should give you clues how to do other things too with appearance.
