Ok, I have a pair of wings which were made from an image with traparencies, it works, but the other sides also have the texture....now do I have to put a script in there to set it, or is there some other way?

please forgive me if I sound like a dumbass :P

Nothing to forgive, RatponX. There's no such thing as a "dumbass" question. We were all new once. Welcome to SL. :)

The answer is to use the "Select Texture" option on the editor dialog. You'll see it towards the top left. When it's on, you can select one surface at at a time, or multiple surfaces using shift-click, and affect only what's selects. So, just turn it in, select the surface(s) you want to alter, and apply your texture. No scripting or anythng fancy necessary.

If you need a 100% transparent texture, you can make one very easily in Photoshop, PSP, or GIMP, or else just reply back and ask for one. I'm sure you'll get a dozen dropped on you as soon as people read it.

EDIT: Whoops. Didn't see your edit until after I posted. Glad you got it worked out. :)

The easiest way of all is just to drag the texture you want onto the side of the prim you want. Effectively, you could have 6 textures on a 6 sided prim just by dragging and dropping.

I used Chosen's method when one side is stiny or thin, but either way works.
