Hi - I have been making myself some clothes in "edit appearance", but when I add a texture the pattern always comes out really big. Is there a way to change this?
Thanks.

No. Once a texture is in world, you cannot change the texture itself. If you are applying a texture to a prim, using the Edit fundtions, then you have the option of stretching or shrinking it, repeating it, or mvoing it around on the prim. You don't have those options in applying a texture to an avatar, though. Textures for avatar clothing are, in fact, designed as "paintings" directly on the avatar body, complete with shadows, folds, wrinkles, and other features.

You wanted to put a texture on a part of the avatar, like a logo or some text on a shirt, right? The texture you apply *is* the shirt. You need to create a shirt texture with your image on it. Check out the stickies at the top of this forum for tutorials on how to do that. You should have no trouble finding a blank shirt texture to which you can apply your image.
Edit: Or if you found a texture in your library and applied it and it looks like the fabric is way too coarse, your texture just isn't fine enough. Problem is, you only have 512x512 pixels to work with for the whole garment. You can do better than the library making the textures yourself, but actual fabric "texture" is difficult to create realistically.
