I know this is a really simple question to ask but I wanted to combine the 3 skin templates into one file , how can I do this?

The simple answer is just make a file with a 512x1536 canvas if you're using the LL templates, or 1024x3072 if you're using Chip's or Robin's templates. Then place each PSD into that file, and configure them accordingly so you can see all three at once. For simple sensibility, you'd probably want to put the head in the upper portion of the canvas, the upper body in the middle part, and the lower body on the bottom.
The more complete response is to answer your question with another question. Why would you want to do this? How do you feel that combining the 3 files will benefit you? It won't make it any easier to match seams, if that's what you're thinking. And you certainly won't be able to upload the combined files in any usable way. The only place it might help you at all is if you happen to be using a 3D paint program that does not allow painting across multiple textures on a single model. Other than that, I can't think of any benefit at all. _____________________

Namssor Daguerre works with the 3 combined templates, and he uses custom actions to automate the cropping, resizing and saving. He describes his workflow a little bit here:
/109/fe/212796/1.html He could probably describe it to you in more detail if you ask. Though, to tell the truth, for myself I agree with Chosen. I began my skin with the 3 templates combined vertically into one big file but I found it to be cumbersome to work with that large a file. The only real advantage for me was that I could use a single color overlay layer across all three templates, but thats not so much of an advantage when I can simply drag the color layer into the other documents for perfect color matching. It is nice seeing the whole body in one glance though, and I'm not sure if you can use the Clone Stamp tool across separate documents, so maybe having them combined would make seam cleanup a little easier. Btw, I think Chosen meant to say 1024 x 3072 for Chip's and Robin's template. |
