when i save snaps to disk and work on them in PS and Thumbs+, the colors are wrong. specificaly red is orange and washed out. All of my shots i save to disk lack contrast and are washed out when viewing. I almost went crazy trying to correct this, but found that if i leave it alone and make no color correction that the colors are fine when i upload back into sl.
At first thought, i thought i must be PS settings, but colors appear the same in thumbs and ps.
ideas? thoughts?

Can you include screenshots of examples of the type of issue you're having?

What color profile are you using in PS? Also have you calibrated your monitor with Adobe's calibration tool that comes with PS? My guess, however, is that your PS has the wrong color management profile, and it's retranslating the colors based off of that.

this might help you - in photoshop go to "View" Then select "proof setup" and select "Windows rgb".
This will make the colours you see in the document as generic windows colours as apposed to any special profile colours you have.

.bmp file from sl save to disk snap shot. but all files look the same until i go to image ready and save optimized jpg. then colors are same as in sl. i use thumbs + as a file browser rather than bridge..it s much faster. colors are the same as in PS.

ok if i understand correctly the image is fine in sl, but is washed out from the point of it becoming a bmp up until you open your optimised jpg.
If thats the case you have a system wide problem that isn't limited only to photoshop and thumbs+
does disabling the adobe gamma control panel make any difference?

to wanda's question, what you wrote is correct. I reset t he adobe gamma and no change. i am stumped i don't have any color problems with print or upload to digital lab. my print output is what i see or close enough. i havn't printed an sl image.
