Hi, I'm very new to creating clothes in SL, my issue, I have all these great ideas, and very limited understanding on how to use gimp. I've noticed that there are loads of templates out there but I can't find any for GIMP, I'm on a limited income in RL so those $500.00 + programs are not an option for me. If anyone knows of a really good (simple..lol) walkthrough on learning GIMP and templates, I would REALLY appreciate the feedback.

BTW,,, all you designers out there who help us noobs out...you ROCK! :)

Gimp will open PSD files; the templates you see out and about for photo shop will work in Gimp.

I've been toying with the idea of offering micro classes in using GIMP -- just a quick trick per class.

I tryed to get GIMP but I had no luck at it [that is my luck no luck lol]

I have been trying to find some way to make cloth for SL now for allmost a mouth, and I allways end up with my back to the wall.

I have paint shop pro paint net and a few other programes but do not know how to use the templets with them, now that one from Natalia's site with gime look like it could be of help but I cannot down load it right i should say..

I would appreciate any help that any one would give.

Thank you.

If you go to www.gimp.org and follow the links to the windows installer, you'll see that you need to download both the GTK+ toolkit (install that first) and then the GIMP executable. You'll probably also want to download the help files as well, although they're not strictly necessary.

Make sure you get the right GTK+; there is a version for older versions of windows if you're running 98/se and earlier.

For learning how to use it - google for "Grokking the GIMP", its the most user-friendly tutorial book out there and its fairly comprehensive.
