ok, im trying to make a shirt with a funny saying on it, but im having issues

is there a way to see placement without uploading the file?

also, any tips on fitting the words? i want the shirt to be usable by both male and female

i am using GIMP 2 and a CMFF Clothing and skin master template

so far i know how to make a layer, and erase the dead space around the
"Seam mAtching Guide"

and i can add text, but the text is flat how can i make it fit better?

p.s.
also, how can i enlarge the text? change its color? font?

Robert, you can start the upload and look at the shirt in the preview viewer before paying the L$10. If you don’t like what you see cancel the upload.

If you are using Chip’s template, you can see where the words and letter will fit on the body. I am confused on what you are asking here.

The shirt can be use by either gender. However, it will look different on the male and female avatars. Think of SL clothing as bodypaint. The clothes are painted on the avatar. So the wording will follow the contours of the body. Obviously, a large breasted woman’s shirt will look different on her than a flat chested man.’s will on him. The words will be painted to follow the contours of her breasts. Also, there is a natural spreading in these areas and the polygons of the avatar stretch, stretching the painted on clothing with them.

I need to go now, to make it to school on time. However, the coloring and font changing of text is a function of your graphics program. It will be different from one to another. Look for tutorials on GIMP. I know there are some out there.

Good luck,

General tips...

Avoid the breasts area. Avoid getting (front or back) close to the armpits.

Both areas (breasts more typically only in female avies) get distorted quite a bit.

Something on ONE breast, like a little logo can work well... but it needs to be small (being from the UK and old enough to have worn school uniform I'll say like a badge on a blazer pocket and hope that works for you). Otherwise top of the torso and across the belly works well.

Things such as "sexy babe" emblazzoned in spangles across the breasts (as seen this afternoon IRL) don't work so well. IRL T-shirts tend to form a sort of roof-shape around and over the breasts unless they're either very thin, wet, the breasts are small or similar. In SL they always mould themselves to the breasts so you get letters distorted in and around the cleavage.

Robert,
There is a selection box that says "preview image as:" ... just change this to female or male upper body as appropriate.

Unfortunately it doesn't use your avatar's shape, but a default "normal" shape, so if your avatar is a more original shape, it won't be super helpful.
