I have been using Photoimpact for all my photo editting since ver3 was bundled with my first digital camera. I can create transparencies but so far have only been able to save them as .png format. Does anyone know IF and How to save them in a .tga file? Id appreciate any and all help on this one

I've never used Photoimpact, but the website says it does support TGA. Whether that means it can just read them or whether it can actually write them as well is not specified. I'd be suprised if it can't do it though. I assume you've tried the standard things like File->Save As... and File->Export?

Photo Impact is very cumbersom imo when creating .tga files. the best solution i was able to come up with for my self was to create the image in photo impact, then paste it as a new image in PS and create the tga there, then upload to SL.
Sorry i only have photo impact 6 but chosen is right in the fact that it states ( and it should) support .tga , yet there is a known file corruption bug that i've come across over time where I had to reinstall PI 6 on several occasions.

I find PI to be easier than Adobe or PSP to create TGA. First, under the menu "My Workspace" ensure you are using the "Advanced" option. (Not Basic Photo, Graphics, Web or the others) Then when you have your image done in PI, you go to File| More Save Options| Save For Video... Select Targa from the drop down box, and all your Alpha Channel info will be properly saved for SL digestion.
