Hi,

Hoping someone can give me some advice. I have been making tattoos for a little while and have been using the Linden Templates. I notice that when you create a tattoo for the arm it will appear on both arms when you upload the image. Is there a way to create the tattoo so it appears on just one arm?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Unfortunately no. Both arms use the same portion of the template so anything put there will appear on both arms.

As Chip said, there's only one arm template, which has always been a problem, but there is a work-around. Put your tattoo image on a transparent backgroud, apply it to a prim, and wear the prim as an attachment on your arm. Size the prim correctly, place it very close to the skin, and the tattoo will appear to be on the skin.

It's not a perfect solution, but it works, and it's the best we can do right now. Hopefully those touted "avatar improvements" that various Lindens have been dropping hints about for a few weeks now will include better templates with more sensible UV's.

Also, correct me if I am wrong here, but I believe if you do anything on the arm part of the templates, be it for tattoos, clothing or skins, and if the design has writing on it or is otherwise obviously not symmetrical, you'll find one arm looks fine, and the other arm has the pattern mirror-image fashion. Fine if the Tattoo says "MOM" on a heart, but lousy if one arm says "Mother", and the other reads "rehtoM". :D

I've avoided making any fashions with writing on the sleves for just that reason. Which means most Manga-inspired "Race Queen" styles are right out. *sigh*.
