I used the eye templates and have managed to create eyes , but how do I make them actually usable in the game? How do I convert my template from photoshop so that i can put it into the game and sell them on to other people to wear.

Once you have the eye created as a file in photoshop 256x256 or 512x512 .tga image, simply upload image into game for 10L$ and then you need to use them with your avitar once to save them as eyes. Once the image is uplaoded it will be in your textures folder. Now, you need to choose to edit your appearance. Now click on the EYE tab (the one furthest to the left) you will see the eye texture that you are curently using. click this image to bring up your texture folder and scroll to your new texture file. Once wearing the new eyes you need to save them by clicking "save as" and then typing the name you want for them. Now your new eyes are saved in another folder in your inventory. Mine appear in "body parts" folder wich may be the default folder.

I'm sorry that I can't help you with the packaging of the eyes for resale since I have yet to figure that out myself, but it should be the same process as any item you put up for sale.

I hope this has helped in some way :)

What ChaChing said is essentially correct; but before you upload, you need to rotate the eye texture 90° counterclockwise.

This is because the mapping on the eye in SL rotates them 90° clockwise, and we can't do a thing about that. So, in order for them to look the way you meant them to look, you have to rotate them first to compensate.

Also, if you intend to sell your eyes, don't edit the ones you are wearing. If you do, your name won't be given as the Creator.

Instead, open your Inventory, and right click on the Body Parts folder. Choose New Body Parts > New Eyes. Then wear and edit those. That will put your name in the Creator field.

Hope this helps.

One more tip for when you sell them. I recommend making them No Mod, Copy, No Transfer so that people can use them for every outfit. And when you do a picture of the eye be sure to write Demo or Sample over parts of the eye so texture stealers can't just take a screen shot and get your eye for free.

You're much better off applying a 256x256 texture size for an eye. The difference in detail between a 512x512 texture and one that is 256x256 is negligable, essentially the same result as if applying a 1024x1024 texture to a tattoo slot rather than a 512x512 texture. You get a much better representation of your final eye if you reduce the texture size to 256x256 in your image editor first. It will upload and resolve faster too. Always keep a high rez master file though.

I display my eyes on an avatar screen shot at POP (point of purchase). It's a better representation of the final look and safer than displaying a flat texture. Eye's are such simple textures to create that stealing a watermarked texture and editing it takes far more effort than creating one from scratch, and the final result using a stolen screen shot will never look quite as nice as the original texture.

You're right on that one...I do it both ways though...

That's one of my latest eyes.

Hey all, came over this thread in search for an eye template. I can't for the heck of me find it anywhere. Can someone point me in the right direction, thanks.
