Gianni, go into appearance mode, select the item you wish to create, and click the button that creates a new item of clothing. Then, open your inventory, find the texture you uploaded, and drag it into the approprate place on the dialog box. Be sure to save your creation. I wish I could be more complete with these directions, but I am at work and do not have access to the client. Good luck

You have to turn the texture into a piece of clothing.
Go into Edit Appearance, take off the item of clothing you're trying to create, and then click on the Create New <whatever> button to make a new item of clothing. You will now be wearing a generic item of that type, with blank textures and white color.
Next, drag your texture from your inventory to the appropriate texture tile in the Edit Appearance window. Most clothing has one texture. Jackets have two, upper and lower, so they can extend below the waist. Skins have three: head, upper, and lower. (Aside from having three parts, you create a new skin just like you create a new item of clothing.) Once you have done that, you will see your new clothing design on your avatar.
Some clothing is designed to be tintable. For instance, lace clothing is often a pattern of white areas and holes (areas with full alpha), and you can make lace of any color by changing the color. If you like, you can change the base color by clicking on the color box (just below the fabric ones) and choosing a color in the usual way. Adding a color in this way is like DYEING an RL piece of clothing -- the color is added to whatever color the garment already has. Skins don't have a color box; they are instead tinted with the appearance sliders.
