but Ill ask anyway. Is there a template for the jacket feature? I would like to create more seamless clothing and that would be the way to go if you could make the clothing WHOLE then upload to SL.

If you are PC/Win and have a host that can handle *.8bf files (Photoshop or PSP being common hosts), then I got just the thing.
Download Multi CH v1 and install it for your host.

Now, Multi CH needs an *.mch file. For this, the MCH file would be SL_jacketwaist01 and can be found here:

Fire up your host. Start a new document with dimensions 1024x512.

One of the first things you are going want are wireframes. So, start 3 new layers. For each layer, render the wires from each channel in the MCH file.

Filter > Tech Slop 3D > Multi Chan Hax v1

With the filter fired up, click the Load button and load SL_jacketwaist01.mch. Check the Wireframe option and use the one slider to pick the channel to render as a wireframe.

There are 3 channels in that particular MCH file

1. Default chunks with upper on the left and lower on the right.
2. Unwrapped cylindrical with the seam in the back.
3. Unwrapped cylindrical with the seam in teh front.

Do a wireframe for each of those channel in their own layer.

I originally made the MCH file for belt work, but should work for seam work on whole jackets. It won't cover the whole jacket layer, but more than enough for seams.

So lets say that you have a jacket already started with upper and lower. Put them both in the document with the upper on the left and the lower on the right just like in the wireframe for channel 1. If they are each 512x512, then they should fit nice and snug into the working 1024x512 doc. Get it?

Make sure your already started jacket upper and lower are on the same layer. You know, merged down or something. With them both on the same layer, start up Multi CH again. The previous MCH should automatically load.

Uncheck Wireframe
ChanA = 1
ChanB = 2

Click Okay and marvel at the magic. You should now be looking at your upper and lower jacket put together in a whole new way. Go ahead and fix the seams and all that.

When you are done, make sure your fixes and retouches are all on one layer. Fire up Multi CH yet again. From here, either swap the values in the slider or use the Reverse option. Click Okay and marvel some more.

That is the real quick and dirty of it. Mostly for fixing the seam in the front. For fixing the seam in the back, use channel 3 in the MCH file and get crazy with the ChOps.

Remember:

- Multi CH work with transparency. Don't forget to use Solidify or your favorite method to fill in the transparent pixels.

- Big Data! If things are suddenly out of proportion, it's probably Big Data. Just crop your entire document down. This bit me in the buttocks pretty hard the other day.

I did take SL_jacketwaist01.mch for a spin and made myself a belt. It worked all dandy and stuff. I was a bit sloppy, but it worked.

Try this site http://www.ccccybernetics.com/avatar_databank/ it's not really templates but it is a model that might be helpful. And the creator is offering help via IMs.

WOW thank you! I guess it wasnt such a stupid question after all. what Im getting at is is there an easier way to match the bottoms and tops so you have a seamless line for prints, lace, etc. I was thinking if the jacket was shown as all one piece you could match stuff easier and then upload it as 2 pieces like you have to do in SL.

So I can use these with Photoshop as one piece? Ive been using AVPainter but its still hard to "paint" stuff on with that. Its hard to stamp stuff too as the texture keeps slipping between the layers and I just cant seem to get it to look right.

Ok, I downloaded those and if I can use them in photoshop I put them in a program Ive never used called DIGITAL DOMAIN CINEMAT V2 1B. I have access to many different 3d programs but they seem very difficult for me to use thats why I would like to use these with photoshop.
