i am new to making shirts, i finnally managed to ad some texture to my shirts by going crazy with The GIMPs blur feture, but my next issue is shading, all my shirts look like they are made of 99%spandex, so i am told "just add some shading!" so heres my question...

are there preshaded layers (kinda like my seam matching guide, or my shirt logo i just slap on), that i can add and just merge on?

it would be great if all i had to do was open it as a layer, press a few buttons and be thru with a ton of painting and guesswork

hopefully in my newbness i have supplied enough info to find what i am needing

that doesnt help, i wasn't asking for a guide or advice on how to shadow, i was asking if anyone knew where i could get a pre-shaded layer, that i can merge onto the shirt

I'm not sure what you'd be looking for in a "pre-shaded layer". Proper shadows will be radically variable, depending on the specifics of the garment in question, and the body shape it's intended to go on. There's no such thing as a universal, one-size-fits-all shadow.

That having been said, take a look at the TGA files in your SecondLife\characters folder. You'll see among other things in there, the shading maps that SL itself uses for the avatars. They might give you an idea of where to start with what you're trying to do.

thank you, again not the answer i was hoping for, but at least it fit the question

i was unaware of the complexety of shading, as i said, i AM rather new at this, i managed to find a shirt template made by robin, and i am using that now, DW, i intend to forward him 10% of the profits, and 1 free copy of every shirt i make usin it as a base lol
