Sorry to bother you with a newbie question but I'm rather new to this all. Anyways, I've uploaded a skin and previewed it on the 3D male head. It looked OK but it's now sitting in my inventory as texture. How do I wear it?

Thank you :) It worked as Tattoo.

Just curious, but can I create a new skin with it which uses the texture? Or do you always need to use it as tattoo? And if so, how do people sell their skin as skin, rather than texture? Sorry for the newbie questions. ;)

If you are thinking about selling your skins, or even giving them away, you might want to add one more step to the process.

In your Inventory, right click on the Body Parts folder, and choose New Body Parts > New Skin from the menu. That will put a new skin in the folder, labeled "New Skin".

Double click to wear it, and then drag your images onto that one.

Then, when people check the Properties of the skin, you will be shown as the Creator.

If you just modify the skin that you got when you entered Second Life, the Creator will show as Nobody.

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks for the info :)

Another question, could anyone upload an example of a working skin (face preferred, but any part would be great)? I don't want to copy it, so you can put a don't copy layer on top of it and flatten. I just want to see what I'm doing wrong since I'm overlooking something and getting white lines instead. I've tried using these templates but I'm still getting graphical oddities:

If you can show us a screen shot of what you are getting, it would help a lot. :D

"Graphical oddities" and "white lines" could be any number of things.

Changing Skins
11-21-2005 20:02
I have tried to put some textures on some skins and then the color of the skins changes to blue or other off color. Think I ruined them :(

I am tired of skins that do not allow mod. I am trying to make mine look as much as possible like me. I would NEVER shave in ceratin areas no matter what!

Also some come with so much makeup it looks like a elementry school girls first pratice.

Any suggestions?
