I have actually had some success. I didnt realize I could save a file as a psd and reuse it like a stencil or pattern. I didnt know this but now that I do I see how people make one thing with many different colors. You could make several tops for example and just use different textures. I can do this also with the textures that were too dark for me to work with. I take something Ive made and lay the pattern over the texture but highlight the "stencil" layer and just erase and there is your neckline. I just wanted to share this as I always ask questions. This doesnt mean I wont be asking any more questions though. lol Thanks people!

Excellent work. good to see you enjoying your new found tools.
Now you are going to want to expand. Layers come to mind, and alpha channels.
You should read the sticky topic at the top of this forum. Here's the link. Happy graphicking.

You know Ive been using the Alpha channels and the layers of course but I find that the clothing isnt as transparent if I dont use the alpha channels. The textures and paint arent as transparent. My next step will be matching the "pants" texture with the top so I can have dresses (adding the prim skirts when I upload them to SL) To me the alpha channel isnt necessary in making some stuff. I did say SOME STUFF. lol ;)
