Hello everybody!

me again!

I wanted to ask, is it possible to get a texture from SL, into Paint Shop Pro....

Im experimenting at the moment, and i need a texture from SL!

And even if i wanted to use a texture that i download off the internet, i know i can open the texture up etc and copy and paste it to my template, but can i actually add that texture to my materials palette? - I have tried, to no avail!

If anybody has any knowledge on the above, id be very greatful.

(im just getting use to Paint shop pro, but i have a funny feeling ill be asking for Adobe photoshop for valentines day - everyone knows a lot about that programme!)

LOL

If a texture gives you permission, you can use the File menu to download a copy to your PC.

If not, well then you shouldn't. You could look at who the creator is and use IM to ask if there is someway you cold obtain a copy, however.

As for Photoshop, it is currently version 9, I think, also called CS2. CS (version 8) or Version 7 are also quite usable, and maybe much less expensive.

I happen to use the GIMP, and am quite happy with it. Not the colossal professional tool that CS2 is, but still good. There is also a version of GIMP called GIMPShop. This is the GIMP configured to work as much as possible like Photoshop (same keyboard shortcuts, etc).

I started out as a total graphics illiterate six months ago. I am learning a lot every day. There is a LOT to learn...

I have your solution. You said you wanted to use the textures In PSP matreials palette. It is easier than the previous post thinks. It is actually very easy.
Go to the file folder you installed PSP
Mine is C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel Paint Shop Pro X
Open the folder and look into the sub folders. Find Palettes.
Ignore it. This is a folder used by PSP to hold premade templates.
You are going to make your own.
Open patterns instead. It should be filled with a mixture of pspimage files and jpgs depending on the version used.
Get your image from whereever and convert to jpg. Save it into the folder.
You have now added to the list of selectable patterns so you can make it inot a palette.
I am working in 10 so this will be specific to ten but should work for 8-11 as they are basically in the same place. 10 and 11 are fundamentally similar except that corel added an ugly drm activation bull that makes it near impossibe to reinstall if your computer crashes. But that is neither here nor there and not apart of this.
Anyway with the materals palette open on your sidebar, switch to swatches. the boxes should fill with tiny pics of all the images in your patterns bar that have been saves a swatches.
Click the second button at the bottom of those pics. Its tool tip (if on) should say create new swatch.
You should get a new window that askes for the name of the swatch and OK and cancel. Type your file name in and click ok.
This will spawn the material properities window. select the pattern tab and click the arrow on the left of the image window in the center.
Search for you image in the now spawned catergory slider window. Click on it and it show appear in the center window now. If you want to rotate or alter direction move the line in the center. That controls direction. The boxes to the sides control the size of the image and the angle. (angle and scale respectably)
Click ok and you should have your new swatch hilighted so you can immedaitely paint with it.
Simply click on it. The pointer should turn into an eyedropper and when you click the color boxes should turn to your pattern.
You now have a new palette!
