I'm certainly no expert on clothing textures, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't dabbled in it a bit here and there.
Right now I seem to be in a bit of a pickle. I have this corset texture that I have created (saved under the .png format) and I can't quite seem to get it to upload correctly.
My corset is completely opaque, barring an insignificant drop shadow. Yet every time I upload my image, it is entirely translucent. In addition, there seems to be this blurred box that encases the corset beyond the actual clothing cutoff points. (not when worn, but when viewed as an image)
In the in-world previewer (prior to uploading) it shows everything perfectly applied to the clothing layer, yet after I upload, it's translucent and blurry. I've tried .png 8bit, 24bit, interlaced, non-interlaced, etc etc. What am I doing wrong here?
It's a rather simple issue, I would imagine, though I can't seem to find any answers from google.
Thanks

what proggy did you use to make the texture? What i would do was open it and safe it as .tga Then try that in sl. Remember , you can upload 'free of charge' either using the emerald-viewer or chosing 'Aditi' in the lockon process

If it really doesn't have any transparent bits at all, make sure to save it as 24-bits, if your program lets you do that.

It's easy to make mistakes with PNG, since it supports multiple forms of transparency. As has already been suggested, try saving to a different format that does not support transparency at all (24-bit TGA or BMP).
As for what is going wrong, that's hard to say without knowing what program you're using, and what exactly you did.
