Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone had any experience making stained glass with GIMP. I wanted to make a lamp with a stained glass shade. I've read through some pretty good threads about doing this with Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro, but I got lost on some of the steps because I'm not sure what the GIMP equivalents are.

If anyone could help me out, that would be great.

Thanks

Seamus, mate do a search for gimp tutorials, there arent many about but thay are around.
I can't see a real difference in either program as long as the background is transparent , im sure though there are lots here that will be able to help. My knowledge is with PS though

If you understand the concept of layers it does not matter whether you use GIMP, PS or Paint Shop. Do a Google for "Gorking the GIMP". It's an online book that is written in fairly easy to understand language. It helped me a lot when I first go The GIMP. Another book (a real book :) ) titled "Beginning GIMP From Novice to Professional" by Akkana Peck is excellent..........30 bucks from Amazon.com.

For the glass, add a "black as transparent" mask to the layer. Fill the mask with gray.
