512x384 seems to work pretty well. Both dimensions are multiples of 32 and it's very close to the correct aspect ratio.

I agree with Chip. 512 x 384 works well on Picks. They are set so a typical screen snapshot, which compresses the 1024 x 768 (typical) screen to a 512 x 512 snapshot, will expand back out to the same ratio as a normal screen.
On classified ads, it's closer to 512 x 256 - they come out roughly twice as wide as they are tall.

I was thinking they were the same aspect ratio, but if you're getting distortion than they may not be. Your best bet is to do a printscreen of the profile dialog box and paste it in to photoshop. Drag a rectangular selection around the picks pic so you can see the actual pixel dimensions. Then figure out the closest match to those dimensions so that they're both multiples of 32. It's likely impossible to do one that's not going to suffer a bit of degradation.

What shows in your profile and what shows when someone finds the ad in Search is a different aspect ratio. In Search, it's wider than what you see in the Classified tab of your Profile. Chosen Few mentioned the best way to be sure. Screen shot it to Disk (not a square snapshot of the rectangular screen), and capture the aspect ratio that way
