What's Coral Paint?

By "Coral", do you mean Corel?

By "Paint", do you mean Paint Shop Pro? PhotoPaint? Painter? Something else?

Please explain.

I found this with a google search. I don't know, maybe it will be helpful? I haven't used Corel Photopaint so I am not sure what it is and isn't capable of, but it should be able to do what you want.

The second section of that page - "Transparency masking" with the bride and her semi transparent veil seems to be going in the right direction.

PhotoPaint should be able to do the job. It's meant as a professional quality alternative to Phtoshop. I've never used it myself, but one if its original developers used to be a regular on this forum. He used to have some pretty interesting things to say about the history of how Photoshop came to dominate the market while PhotoPaint went relatively unused in the industry, to the developers' continuing dismay. To hear him tell it, they had created a very comparable product which they were offering for a lot less money, but for whatever reason, it just didn't catch on the way Photoshop did.

I can't speak very intelligently about just how comparable it is or isn't today, since as I said, I've never used it. It is still marketed as supposedly comparable to Photoshop though, so I'd be very surprised if it can't do alpha channels. I'd feel safe betting any amount of money that it can.

I don't have Corel Paint, but try going into the program's Help menu and do a search on Alpha. I'm sure you'll find something on it there.

They still make that? What would be the point, then, since they acquired Jasc's PaintShop Pro?

Yeah, they still make it. I'm not sure why. PhotoPaint comes as part of the Corel Draw suite while PSP remains a stand-alone program. I don't know what the logic is behind their continuing to offer both, but it's been that way for a good long time now.
