Okay..so i am relatively new to SL.. my account only a month or so old.. but i have gotten recently into clothing design in-game. However, i am quickly learning painting textures can only go so far.. and i am kind of stuck at the moment. I am attempting to make a dress shirt.. of the button-up variety.. but makign the collar is driving me crazy.

Is it better to try to paint the collar on, or have someone make a prim for me for it? and if paint.. can anyone give me advice on making it look right? or possibly an example or the like to go by? it is driving me crazy..

Thanks for your time guys..and if you can help, it would be incredibly nice..

You can start with something simple first.
Rez a cylinder and use taper and top shear to alter the shape to form it.
Then apply an alpha texture to the side to make the collar.

You can hollow out the cylinder if you want your collar to be visible both from inside and out. If not, just texture the top and bottom of the cylinder invisible.

Since you've already delved into clothesmaking, making an alpha texture collar shouldn't be too hard for you. You'll get the hang of it after a few failures. :)
